Constructing Utopia
Constructing Utopia is a photographic art project that explores the urban landscape and social housing projects that were designed by architects in the mid 20th century. Within this series, by using the device of a sensory walk through the town of Thamesmead in South East London I seek to describe aspects of these areas that were designed with an inherent sense of utopian idealism. By using the device of le flaneur, the street wander seeks to guide the viewer through a set of perceptions. The impressions and thoughts that rise and fall within the mind allow for an internal dialogue to occur between the landscape, its design details and the viewer.
